Work visa

(9G)

If you wish to work in the Philippines in a paid position, you will need to obtain a work visa.
Employers must go through the process of obtaining work visas for newly hired foreign employees.
First, we will publish a document describing the new employee's job responsibilities in the newspaper.
After the announcement in the newspaper, 15 days later, we will submit an application for permission to employ foreign workers to the Ministry of Labor. Approval can be obtained in about 7 to 10 days.
Finally, you will apply for a work visa at the Immigration Bureau. You can obtain the visa in about 30 to 45 days. Work visas can be applied for a period of 1 to a maximum of 3 years, provided that the requirements are met. If the visa expires, you will need to apply again.

In connection with the above, expatriates will be stationed under the condition that the company is 100% foreign-owned, and can obtain a 9D visa by following the necessary procedures. The 9D visa is usually valid for one year, with a maximum of two years. Therefore, once the visa expires, a new application is required.
The 9D visa is only available to those who have treaty agreements with the Philippines, namely Japan, the United States, and the Federal Republic of Germany.

Special Investor Visa

(SIRV)

This visa can be obtained by investing a minimum of US$75,000.00 in an investment project approved by the Board of Investment (BOI). First, you deposit your planned investment funds by bank transfer to a bank approved by the BOI.
Then, with the approval of the BOI, you apply for the visa at the Immigration Bureau, on the condition that you intend to make the investment. Upon application, you will receive a provisional 6-month stay visa. After that, once you receive approval from the BOI and proof of the investment project, you can apply for a SIRV visa and, upon approval, reside in the country.
You can reside there as long as your investment continues.

Spouse visa

(13A)

If a Filipino and a foreigner marry and intend to live in the Philippines, they can apply for a spouse visa with the consent of their Filipino partner.
A spouse visa grants permanent residency as long as the marriage continues, making it a permanent residency visa. Furthermore, this visa allows you to work and conduct business.
To apply for a spouse visa, you must submit all necessary documents to the Bureau of Immigration, including a marriage certificate, a birth certificate for the Filipino national, a criminal record certificate from the Philippine National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for the visa applicant, and bank statements for both spouses (or one of them) from a Philippine bank. (For some countries, a medical examination certificate from a Philippine medical institution may also be required.)
You can obtain the visa 30 to 45 days after applying. This visa is a temporary visa valid for one year. After two years, you can reapply for a spouse visa to obtain a permanent residency visa for your spouse.

Quota Visa

(SEC 13)

A quota visa is a permanent residency visa issued to the Philippines for a limited number of 50 people per year from countries with which the Philippines has a partnership.
Quota visa holders can work and conduct business, and it is the most unrestricted visa in the Philippines, as well as the most sought-after permanent residency visa. Until recently, the quota would be filled by around September, but since October 2025, the system has become stricter as described below. As a result, demand has decreased somewhat, but we still receive many inquiries.
Under the new system, the principle to obtain a quota visa is that you must stay in the Philippines for at least 180 days per year, otherwise visa applications may not qualify. Also, the deposit requirement has increased from 50,000 US dollars to 100,000 US dollars.
It has been changed. Regarding the deposit, it remains the same as before. Once the visa is obtained, unlike other Philippine visas, you can use it freely. The cost of obtaining an SEC13 visa is somewhat higher for the first time due to the nature of this visa, but you will understand how few restrictions this visa has the longer you stay in the Philippines.

Special Resident
Retiree Visa

(SRRV)

Holders of a special resident retirement visa are permitted multiple entries and indefinite stays as permanent residents of the Philippines.
However, as long as you maintain the visa deposit required for visa renewal, or if you are the owner of a condominium approved by the Retirement Authority, or if your investment approved by the Retirement Authority exceeds the visa deposit, you can continue your visa, i.e., obtain permanent residency, as long as you do not sell the property. You can also work if necessary, with permission from the Department of Labor. In addition to permanent residency, holders of this visa have several other advantages. They are exempt from taxes on entry and exit from the Philippines. They receive discounts on purchases at stores affiliated with the Retirement Authority. From 2025, the minimum age for obtaining this visa has been lowered from 50 to 40.

●Visa deposits managed by the Retirement Authority are now as described below.

40–49 years old 50 years and older
Annuity owner US.$25,000.00 US.$15,000.00
Non-annuity owner US.$50,000.00 US.$30,000.00

The visa deposit mentioned above can also be applied to up to two spouses with this visa.
If you have two or more spouses, you will need to deposit an additional US$15,000.00 per spouse into your visa account. Spouses other than one spouse must be single and under the age of 21.
If you no longer need to hold the visa, you can apply for a refund of your visa deposit, although this may take some time.
The visa application fee to the Retirement Agency is US$1,500.00, and an annual membership fee of US$360.00 is required as an initial cost.
A separate application fee will also be required for your spouse.
Applicants are required to obtain a certificate of no criminal record from the police station in their home country.
Additionally, a health checkup at a clinic in the Philippines designated by the Retirement Agency is required. Once all the necessary documents and conditions are met, the applicant can apply for this visa.
After applying for the visa, you will have an interview with an officer from the Retirement Agency, and the visa will be issued in approximately 45 days. You will need to stay in the Philippines until you receive your visa.
